Lighting
Three point lighting

Three point lighting is a technique used in film, tv and interviews and is accomplished by using three different lights in three different places to light the subject up properly. The main light used is the key light which is placed in front of the subject and lights them up from the front and is often brighter than the other two. The second light used is called the fill and is placed off to the side of the subject and is often less powerful than they key light as it is only used to fill in some of the shadows in front of the subject that are made from the key light allowing the audience to see more detail on the subject. The final light is placed behind the subject and is called the back light is is used to light up the back of the subject in order to separate the subject from the background, helping the to stand out more in the scene/photo. When we practised three point lighting we also added different colours over some of the lights to see how that would effect it.
